Ron Perlman Joins Cast of HARRY POTTER Spinoff FANTASTIC BEASTS

There’s an exciting bit of casting news for J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, directed by David Yates. Legendary character actor Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy) has come on board. We don’t have too many details yet, but the rumor is that Perlman will play a goblin.

Fantastic Beasts takes place 70 years before Harry Potter reads Newt Scamander’s book at Hogwarts — he’s the wizarding world’s preeminent magi-zoologist (that’s the study of magical creatures, in case you forgot).  It’s currently shooting on location in England, with Eddie Redmayne in the lead role. He recently won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, so while this is quite a departure, we know he can handle it. Fantastic Beasts also stars Ezra Miller, Jon Voight, Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton. Yates is a Harry Potter veteran, having directed four of the seven films in the franchise.

As Harry Potter fans will know, Fantastic Beasts is the first in a planned trilogy, and it’s set to release on November 18, 2016. Hopefully the time goes quick! We don’t know if it’ll be able to top the original films, but we sure can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in the marvelous magical creature land of Rowling’s limitless imagination.

What do you think of the casting news — can you guess who Perlman will play? Don’t be shy; let us know in the comments below.
