When you’re a kid, a cardboard box can be anything you can imagine. It can be a spaceship, or a pirate ship, or it can even be a naval ship. Some creative kids might have even come up with some non-ship ideas, but we were really big on ships. The more important point is that you don’t need a lot of money or special effects to be creative or to tell amazing stories, you just need some good old-fashioned ingenuity and a can-do attitude, like with this cheap, homemade shot-for-shot remake of the Rogue One trailer.

The folks at CineFix have put together their own “sweded” version of the upcoming Star Wars‘s trailer. (The term “sweded” comes from the great Michael Gondry movie with Jack Black and Mos Def, Be Kind Rewind, where they were forced to create low-budget remakes of famous films.) The team managed to generate every single character, costume, explosion, and CGI-moment from the latest Lucasfilm movie–without those deep Disney pockets, but with some totally sweet fake beards.

We’ll be honest, this is so good it’s hard to tell the difference between this version and the real one–as long as you aren’t wearing your glasses, or looking at the screen, and also it might help if maybe you’ve had a few drinks.

But hey, looking “good” is definitely not the point here, it’s about being fun and innovative, and this is even more impressive than just sitting in a cardboard box and acting like its a rocketship. Plus, there are definitely some aspects here that are real standouts, like how their actress playing Jyn Erso looks like she could be the sister of Felicity Jones, not to mention that for a cost-cutting endeavor that’s a pretty great approximation of K-2SO.

If you’re wondering how this holds up in direct comparison with the actual trailer from Lucasfilm, no need to wait for someone else to come along and put them side-by-side, because CineFix already did it for us.

Yeah, it’s not that hard.

But that’s not all, because they also put up a behind-the-scenes look at how they made the whole thing. Turns out a lot of those big action scenes they had to somehow include involved LEGOs.

We really love these homemade trailers, and just like the “sweded” Force Awakens one we got last year, there’s just something about the Star Wars installments that make us particularly happy. Why you ask? Maybe it’s because we’re just huge Star Wars nerds, or maybe it’s because they require tons of creativity to pull off all the aliens, androids, and huge action sequences that make up any Star Wars trailer.

Or maybe it’s because at the heart of any successful low-budget remake lies the same thing that is at the heart of every Star Wars movie, the greatest ship anyone could ever imagine.

Friendship.

No, no… it’s probably the other reasons.
