Honest Trailers never pull any punches in their reviews of films, and they most certainly did not go easy on the first Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One. Of course, they first had to take a hilarious swipe at fans who were chronically misspelling the title as Rouge One–because spelling is important, even in a rebellion.
So whether you thought Rogue One was a brilliant addition to the Star Wars saga or a superfluous one, get ready for the hilarious ride Screen Junkies is about to take you on. Take a peek:
This trailer basically pokes holes in just about everything Rogue One had to offer, from the doomed characters (though they definitely forgot to mention Riz Ahmed’s character, Bodhi Rook), to the huge way the franchise goes about filling a plot hole, to the extensive reshoots, to highlighting Jyn’s odd tendencies to be a rebel who largely do just about everything she’s told to do on film. I loved Rogue One, but having that all laid out like that does make you scratch your head a bit.
And sure, they essentially call the movie one giant fan film filled with a bunch of tiny references for Star Wars die hards, but come on! How much fun was that movie?! Maybe we didn’t all like the CGI characters, and maybe not everyone found Darth Vader’s dad joke as delightful as some of us. And maybe the updated tech and stage fighting skills makes Obi-Wan and Darth Vader’s final battle in A New Hope seem a bit…low-key, but I mean, at least we can all agree on the fact that the hallway scene at the end of Rogue One was nothing short of utterly and completely badass, and it felt like a far more complete and fun way to connect the much debated prequel trilogy to the original trilogy. Right? Right?
What did you think of the Honest Trailer? Were they right on the money, or do you disagree? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
