Geek chic has gotten the highbrowiest of treatment at this season’s New York Fashion Week, where kooky house of clothing Rodarte has channeled their inner Force to bring some of Star Wars‘ most notable faces to the runway…. on skirts! Because nothing says “I support the Rebel Alliance” like a floor-length silk number with Yoda’s face on it. Finally, a gift for the incredibly wealthy, fashion-obsessed geek that has everything.
Images of Yoda, Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, and even the Death Star are emblazoned across the otherwise minimalist-looking attire. The happenings ruffled quite a few feathers, and the resulting flurry of social media posts surrounding the collection’s direction turned Twitter into a veritable Force Storm.

It’s actually not such a surprising pairing when you consider the fact that George Lucas actually showed up to the Mulleavy’s autumn/winter 2012 fashion show AND sat front row at this year’s soiree next to Queen Amidala herself, Natalie Portman. However, questions remain: what’s the over-under on someone wearing one of these dresses to the Oscars this year?
