Rocket Racoon Rescues Baby Groot in Adorable Marvel Funko Animated Short

Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Name a more iconic duo. We’ll wait. Oh, Rocket and Baby Groot you say? Yeah, that might be right (uh, the latest Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer would certainly lend credence to that point of view). So even under normal circumstances we’d be pretty excited about any new short video featuring the two unlikely heroes, but when it’s a super cute animated cartoon with the pair in their Funko Pop! versions? Well then there’s only one to describe how we feel about that: “We. Are. Groot.”

In this animated short from Marvel Entertainment, titled “Bait N Switch,” that features all of the characters in the popular Funko toy forms, Rocket has to rescue Baby Groo t(still in his pot like at the end of the first Guardians movie) from one of The Collector‘s exhibits. After some running around and close calls, Rocket manages to get away by using the Collector’s one weakness: a shiny box.

This is actually the second Funko cartoon from Marvel, the first, “Spellbound,” featured Spider-Man and Iron Man teaming up together to battle the best of the MCU’s villains, Loki. That is until Loki uses his scepter to turn one of his opponents into his ally. But you know what they say, “What’s good for the goose is good for the chicken.”

It’ll make sense we promise.

Yeah, we are going to need a lot (A LOT) more of these. Because, not surprisingly, it turns out Funko and Marvel are a pretty good duo themselves.

What other MCU Funko Pop! characters would you like to see star in one of these? Tell us in the comments section below.
