Robin Wright is in Talks to Join BLADE RUNNER 2 Cast

The long-awaited Blade Runner 2 is finally gearing up for production later this year, and Robin Wright may have one of the leading roles.

A report on Variety states that Wright is in “final negotiations” to join Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in the currently untitled Blade Runner sequel. Nothing is currently known about Wright’s character in the movie, or whether she is human or replicant. Given the ambiguous nature of the first Blade Runner, we may not even know after the sequel comes out!

Wright is currently starring on the Netflix original series House of Cards, but she is best known for her roles in The Princess Bride, Forrest Gump, Moll Flanders, Unbreakable, and Moneyball. Wright is also co-starring in the upcoming Wonder Woman film as General Antiope.

The original Blade Runner movie, directed by Ridley Scott, was based on Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and it featured Ford as Rick Deckard, a man who was tasked with hunting down and destroying rogue replicants (robots masquerading as humans) in 2019. The Blade Runner sequel will take place a few decades later with a story by the co-writer of the first film, Hampton Fancher, and Scott. Fancher and Michael Green are collaborating on the Blade Runner 2 script, with Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) slated to direct the film.

Blade Runner 2 is set to begin shooting in July, and it will be released on January 12, 2018.
