Robert Kirkman on THE WALKING DEAD and OUTCAST, Doc Talks Puck: The Week In Podcasts

So much podcasting goodness at the Nerdist Podcast Network this week, so little time to tell you about it. (Yeah, I’m reporting on yet another convention. My glamorous Hollywood life… sigh.) Here’s what we have for you:

Robert Kirkman made his third visit to the Nerdist Podcast, though I could swear there were more. No matter, because he’s always a good guest, and this time, he not only had the last season of The Walking Dead to talk about, but also the new Cinemax adaptation of Outcast, and, somehow (it’s Matt’s fault), Star Trek. Beware The Walking Dead spoilers in this one. Speaking of Outcast, showrunner Chris Black talked about his career and everything related to writing and producing for TV on The Writers Panel. And remember, you can watch Outcast starting tonight (June 3rd) on Cinemax.

Wyshynski was in Pittsburgh for the Stanley Cup Finals and caught up with none other than the great, great Mike (Doc) Emrick for Puck Soup, and that should be enough for you to listen. Doc is the best. (I’m a Flyers fan, he did the Devils games for years, and that should tell you how great he is….) Also, the guys talk about Logan Couture and his whining about Sidney Crosby’s face-off “cheating,” who you should root for in the finals if you don’t have a horse in the race, expansion, and Greg’s little problem with the housekeepers.

On The Jonah Keri Podcast, Monday’s episode featured The Hardest Working Man in Podcasting Travis McElroy of My Brother, My Brother And Me and too many others to mention, while Friday’s show was a chat with San Francisco Giants radio play-by-play voice Dave Flemming.

Also doubling up was The JV Club, on which Janet was joined by ol’ pal April Richardson to read your emails on the show’s 200th episode — Mazel tov! — and then was joined by Matt Gourley of Superego and our own James Bonding for the first of this year’s Boys of Summer episodes.

More: We visited a pyramid mausoleum and met some, um, human dogs on Bizarre States; We got another Free Play Legacy Music Hour; Alison had an incident while overseas and told how she dealt with it on Half Hour Happy Hour; Alan Starzinski helped the guys analyze X-Men: Apocalypse on Comic Book Club; The Elfmans went off on a-holes young and old on Kicking and Screaming; Hound Tall talked science with Cara Santa Maria, Kate Berlant, Matt Braunger and Max Silvestri; and Jackie and Laurie discussed the “storytelling plague,” the plight of Acme in Minneapolis, the scourge of club owner pranks, and Sabado Gigante, among other comedy things, on The Jackie and Laurie Show.

Also: The truly uniquely funny Dave Hill visited Chewin’ It, and the also uniquely funny Aparna Nancherla joined Pete on You Made It Weird, while Glen Powell (Everybody Wants Some, Scream Queens) did the factual dance with Razzle ‘n’ Dan on Today We Learned, Quincy Jones talked pop culture and his HBO special on Pop My Culture, and comedian Dan Levy spent an hour with Alexi on Love, Alexi. And, oh, yeah, by the time you read this, there might just be another Clonecast with all the Orphan Black dirt you crave.

It’s all at the Nerdist Podcast Network homepage and Facebook page. Go, listen, subscribe, love.
