Now approaching its seventh issue, Archie Comics‘ new Riverdale series is better than any comic book based on a TV show based on a comic book has any right to be. In fact, Riverdale has done a pretty spectacular job at capturing what’s great about the show, delving deeper into its mysteries and characters without repeating the stuff you’ve already seen onscreen, and its comic book counterpart alike. In other words, it’s essential reading for fans of the CW drama and lovers of great comic books.
If you feel the same way we do about Riverdale, you’ll definitely want to check out the preview of issue seven we have below, written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Aaron Allen, and Will Ewing, with art from Thomas Pitilli, Andre Szymanowicz, and Janice Chiang.
Riverdale #7 focuses on Dilton Doiley, everyone’s favorite survivalist, who becomes convinced that the world is about to end in a big way. Doiley’s obsession with the apocalypse leads to a major dilemma for Jughead: Does he humor his friend’s theories or try to convince him that everything is fine? Of course, this being Riverdale and all, there’s always the possibility that Doiley is right. A devastating astronomical event would be like the third weirdest thing to happen in this town.
So, check out the pages below and add Riverdale to your pull list (if it isn’t already). In addition to awesome storytelling courtesy of the series’ showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, you also get great artwork and brilliant covers by the one and only Francesco Francavilla. Or, if gorgeous art isn’t your thing, you can pick up the photo cover which features the all so kissable Jughead Jones. Guys, it’s 2017 and Jughead is a genuine sex symbol. These are strange times indeed.
Riverdale #7 hits stands October 18th and you can pick a copy at fine comic book shops everywhere.
