Ride Along in Amazing 360 THE FORCE AWAKENS Immersive Video

We’re not going to apologize for all of the work you’re not going to get done the rest of the day, because you’re going for a ride on a speeder.

As Obi Wan once said to a confused, young Luke, the Force “surrounds us.” That’s all we can think about today with this new, almost hard to believe it’s real, immersive 360 video that invites us into the world (and then tells us to have a look around) of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

This is an interactive video that allows you, the watcher, to look around at the entire world as though you’re literally sitting there. Today Facebook announced they’ll be adding these 360 videos to their News Feed, and to help promote it Disney and Lucasfilm put together this incredible one of Rey speeding across the Jakku desert. It’s almost surreal. It has the feel of a first person shooter, but it’s just a video. You’ll need to watch it (well, experience it) over and over to try and get everything that’s here. It also works as a great reminder of how big a Destroyer really is. Having the other rider fly by gives you a sense of speed, so make sure you watch a few passes on your right.

There are lots of other companies uploading their videos today, but since our lives are currently in a state of anticipation until The Force Awakens, we’ll be riding with Rey for the rest of the day.

So make sure you watch it and share your favorite details that some of us may have missed down below here in the comments section.
