It’s been almost a year since Rick and Morty season three came to an end, and it’s anyone’s guess when season four will actually arrive. Fortunately, the future of the show was secured when it landed a massive 70 episode renewal from Adult Swim. And now, Adult Swim has dropped a wild new Rick and Morty promo that’s captured our attention. Today’s Nerdist News breaks down the new promo and why it has us hyped for season four.
Join the Rick-est host in the multiverse, Jessica Chobot C-137, as she walks us Rick and Morty‘s 15-second journey into the realm of superheroes. We can almost picture it starting out like this: “Hey Morty, I turned myself into a superhero. I’m Hero Rick!” The short in question appears to borrow from both Aeon Flux and X-Men: The Animated Series. Naturally, Rick and Morty were given more heroic costumes and personas, but Beth and Summer weren’t left out of the fun.
There are plenty of other callbacks to the first two seasons in there, including the return of Snowball, Squanchy, and the Cromulons, the giant alien heads that put on a deadly intergalactic American Idol-esque show. And this time, Rick and Morty are packing some heat!

We highly doubt the show will ever go full superhero, but it could be a fun diversion for an episode or even just a dream sequence. Any new Rick and Morty content is a reason to celebrate, and we’d love to see more shorts like these to tide us over until season four arrives.
