RICK AND MORTY Gets Renewed for a Second Season at Adult Swim

The once unbreakable barrier between ratings between network and cable are starting to show signs of wear and tear, thanks to a big wave of high quality programming on cable. Add to that growing list Adult Swim’s animated Rick and Morty. The hysterical series (if you need more convincing, here you go) created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland that’s somewhere between Dexter’s Laboratory, Futurama, and Back to The Future with that Adult Swim-style absurdity has beaten out much of its competition, including Harmon’sm own Commmunity on NBC, in key demos.

That’s why it should be little surprise to all that Adult Swim has officially just given Rick and Morty a second season. For my money, it’s one of the funniest animated series on television right now and am hoping that, perhaps, will get a “#sixseasonsandamovie” push very soon.

In the press release, Harmon said, “I am excited to make as much Rick and Morty as Adult Swim allows, and I’m relieved to be in a time slot of no strategic value to CBS.” Roiland added, “I am humbled and super excited by the positive response to the show, and we have no shortage of ideas for future episodes.”
