Retro BATMAN V SUPERMAN Fan Trailer with Michael Keaton and Christopher Reeve

In the long build up to Batman v Superman‘s theatrical release—less than a month to go now!—there have been no shortage of fan trailers offering parodies or alternate versions of the fated encounter between the world’s two most famous superheroes. Many of these have transplanted the two icons’ very first meeting to a totally different pop culture era. We’ve seen a trailer that placed Batman v Superman in the Saturday afternoon serial days of the 1940s; we had one done in the Bruce Timm animated series style from the ’90s; we saw one in which Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman were played by their classic television incarnations George Reeves, Adam West, and Lynda Carter. It seems almost every era has been covered…except the most obvious one. Until now, that is.

A YouTube user who goes by the name AdeelOfSteel has created his own Batman/Superman trailer, edited together out of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies of the ’80s and Tim Burton’s Batman movies starring Michael Keaton. The title,World’s Finest, is in honor of the old school Superman/Batman team-up comic that ran for decades, when the two characters were portrayed as best buddies and not “brothers who care about each other, but also kind of hate each other and want to kick each other’s asses,”  which has been the standing interpretation for the past 30 years.

What’s most fun about this fan trailer is that it doesn’t try to replicate the storyline or soundtrack of the upcoming Zack Snyder film. Instead, because it’s based on the old Batman and Superman team-up stories from the Golden and Silver Age of comics, it shows Bruce and Clark getting together to take out the combo of Lex Luthor and the Joker—played by Gene Hackman and Jack Nicholson, of course. You can check out the whole trailer in all it’s ’80s glory above.

What do you think of this Batman/Superman fan trailer? Is this the movie you wished you were getting instead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
