Marvel has firmly set its all-seeing Eye of Agamotto on yet another esteemed British actor to join Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange. None other than 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor could be appearing alongside Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Talks are still reportedly in the early stages and plot details are sequestered away on the Astral Plane, but rumors are already flying as to who exactly Ejiofor could play. Some have speculated that Ejiofor was in line to play the villainous Baron Mordo, the mortal enemy of Doctor Strange who focuses his enmity against the good doctor after Strange usurps his role as Sorcerer Supreme-to-be.
However, “insiders” have reportedly said that’s incorrect. So who does that leave? Some have theorized that Marvel is going to reimagine the role of Doctor Strange’s servant Wong, a monk and master of martial arts, for Ejiofor. Meanwhile, others are suggesting that Ejiofor could play the Ancient One, the nearly immortal master of the mystic arts and reigning Sorcerer Supreme who mentors Strange in the ways of the supernatural.
Or maybe Marvel is going whole hog and introducing Bother Voodoo right off the bat in a totally unexpected move. We’ll find out when Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4, 2016.
Who would you like to see Chiwetel Ejiofor play? Let us know in the comments below.
Is Brother Voodoo’s power Bother? Or is that just a typo š
The comics line is bringing back Brother Voodoo in the Uncanny Avengers relaunch, so I’m assuming their beefing up the role in the comics to give him some exposure before the movie
Better not be wong as another black guy to be a white guys side kick is really shaddy.
I don’t care I just want him in the MCU. š
Brother Voodoo, I hope!!!
I would like to see him play Black Panther, but I suppose that ship has sailed.
Chadwick Bozeman will be amazing, tho.
I like Cumberbatch as much as the next guy, but I still kinda wish Ejiofor was going to play Doctor Strange.
