Report: EA Locks Down Rights To TITANFALL 2

Non-Xbox owners who foresee themselves missing out on the Titanfall franchise altogether, you just may be in luck. A “reputable source” informed Gamespot that EA has officially secured the rights to the next Titanfall game.

The obvious conclusion that can be drawn from this would be that Titanfall is gearing up to go multiplatform for its next game. Electronic Arts has been known in the past to sell timed exclusivity with their AAA titles (see Mass Effect), so it would be standard procedure if they did decide to drop Titanfall within the Sony and Nintendo war grounds.

You have to wonder if Microsoft will even shell out the money to keep the franchise exclusive to the Xbox and PC platforms. While there aren’t any current Titanfall sales figures for the US, the game has sold quite healthily in the UK, boosting Xbox One unit sales altogether since its release last week. But whether or not the transaction turned out to be a profitable one for EA remains to be seen.

If the rumors are true, do you think EA should stick with Microsoft exclusivity or take Titanfall to multiple platforms? Let us know what you think in the comments.

EA should stick with MC they bought the game so it make the game there’s. And sony have some games that’s only exclusive for the ps3 and ps4 like God Of War and the Lest Of Us and also Uncharted you guys talking about let TITANFALL be a multi-platform HELL NO you guys sound really desperate if you want to play TITANFALL then go buy an Xbox or a PC. And maybe if sony give MC 2 of there best excluxive games then maybe MC will think about.

erm..pc at least, EA is the distributor for the current Titanfall game out….so…erm ok by the logic here it should be multiplatform already.

    • Malik Forté says:

*Should be. But Microsoft bought exclusive rights to the first game. How many Xbox One units vs how much they paid for the exclusivity will determine whether it’s worth them buying it again.

But who knows? They JUST purchased the full rights to Gears Of War, so they may decide to let this one slip into being MP. Pretty sure EA will up the ante on the second game

Going multi-platform in the future is a no-brainer. But EA being involved pings the needle on my BS detector. Respawn Entertainment owns the “Titanfall” IP, and that’s their most valuable commodity. There is no sane reason for them to let another company, especially one with EA’s reputation, in on the fun.
