Deadline is reporting that Cary Fukunaga has left New Line Cinema’s upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s It. No official word yet on why this may be the case, but this is a serious bummer for fans of the book/original miniseries who hoped Fukunaga’s signature style (seen most recently on the smash first season of True Detective) would catapult yet another remake into something new and worthwhile.
This news also comes a few weeks after we learned that the two-part film had found its terrifying killer clown, Pennywise, in We’re The Millers and The Mazerunner‘s Will Poulter. And though some might not be on board with a younger iteration of It‘s classic villain, we firmly believe that pretty much no one can live up to Tim Curry’s legacy, and going in a completely different direction is the only way go.
IÂ mean, come on.
