Reminder: Nintendo is Giving Away Mythical Mew This Month

Who’s that Pokémon?

Pokemon-Mew-02022016

As part of the Pokémon 20th anniversary celebration, Nintendo is giving away mythical pocket monsters throughout the year to add to your ever-growing collection of the cute creatures. The festivities commence this month with the distribution of the incredibly adorable psychic-type, Mew. From now until February 24, you’ll be able to nab a code at your local Gamestop. Just remember, the download is only compatible with Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.

This little fella will already be level 100 and will have the synchronize ability when downloaded. I’m not a fan of getting these legendary creatures at such a high level, just because I’d much rather train it to fit my team, but at least level grinding won’t be required here.

Here’s the rest of the distribution schedule:

  • Celebi: March 1-24
  • Jirachi: April 1- 24
  • Darkrai: May 1-24
  • Manaphy: June 1-24
  • Shaymin: July 1-24
  • Arceus: August 1-24
  • Victini: September 1-24
  • Keldeo: October 1-24
  • Genesect: November 1-24
  • Meloetta: December 1-24

This is obviously the perfect time to complete your pocket monster collection, so don’t miss out! If this isn’t enough to fill your Pokémon needs, the Red, Blue, and Yellow re-releases will be launching at the end of this month; you can check out our coverage of those bad boys right here. The first three films of the series have also been released digitally on iTunes, Amazon, and the Google Play store. I highly recommend watching the tear-jerking first film, which also happens to feature Mew.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention that a talking Pikachu also exists now, and he solves mysteries too.

Are you guys planning on nabbing a download code? Will you be using this pocket monster in battle? Which of the upcoming mythical Pokémon do you want to add to your collection the most? Let us know in the comments below.
