Rejoice! TRANSPARENT Has Been Renewed for Season Two!

Well this is very good news. Very, very, very good news indeed. Excuse us if we’re a little bit over-stimulated but we just cannot help how excited we are for a second season — now confirmed via Amazon Prime — of Jill Soloway’s Jeffrey Tambor-starrer, Transparent. Three cheers for good television regardless of platform! Huzzah for interesting, different, and uniquely inspiring stories being told! Hooray for that sort of avenue!

The news comes less than two weeks after the entire season premiered on Amazon’s Prime Instant Video to seriously bangarang reviews (us included) and serious adulation from folks who’ve since viewed it. The show follows the Pfefferman family of Los Angeles, particularly its patriarch Mort (Jeffrey Tambor) who comes out as transgender, renames herself Maura, and must then wade the emotional waters that comes with such a revelation so late in life. Amy Landecker (a/k/a not-Amy-Brennenman), Gaby Hoffmann, and Jay Duplass star as Maura’s children, with the supremely delightful Judith Light as ex-wife Shelly.

The show really does have something for everyone: it’s a comedy with many a rumination on life, sexuality, identity, and what happens when someone changes. The balance of drama, humor, and rawness make this one a series that is not to be missed under any circumstances. But if our words can’t convince you, perhaps our interviews with Tambor and Soloway will?

Who else has been watching Transparent? Wanna talk about it in the comments? C’MON let’s do it! It’ll be like that crazy threesome from episode three, minus all the drugs and sex and stuff.
