Red’s on Fire in the First Promo for THE BLACKLIST Season Two

He may be finishing up work on the highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron, but until then, there’s no stopping us from getting a weekly dose of James Spader thanks to the highest rated new series of last year, NBC’s The Blacklist. As a quick refresher: starring Mr. Ultron himself as Red Reddington, The Blacklist follows an elite group of FBI agents that, thanks to the help of Red’s list of names, work to track down the worst of the worst, all while trying to uncover the house of cards that is Red’s life. Now, with the new season just two weeks away, the network has unveiled a fresh promo featuring audience’s first look at the new season:

Back during May’s finale, we learned the driving force behind Red’s surrender was so that he could use the resources of the FBI to launch a counter-attack against a man known only as Berlin (Peter Stormare), another criminal mastermind with his own vendetta set against Red and his interests. Based on this promo, it appears (assuming Lord Baltimore ends up being connected to Berlin) the season premiere’s wasting no time at picking up where that thread left off, while also delivering on a nice case of the week.

Even at its occasional weak points, The Blacklist has been a constant deliverer of entertainment thanks to the untiring efforts of Spader in the series. Along with the series’ writers, the man has created a character that’s everything we’re not, which of course makes him endlessly entertaining to watch.

The Blacklist returns September 22nd at 10/9c on NBC.
