Sometimes an idea seems so obvious after the fact that you wonder what took so long for someone to think of it, but the truth is it those breakthroughs often require a person of considerable wisdom and skill. Just like this talented and inventive musician who performed a medley of Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ songs using actual red hot chili peppers.
We came across this video at Laughing Squid, and it features David Biale using a real pepper to play a number of Flea’s bass lines from the band’s extensive catalogue. However, just like there’s more than one way to slice a pepper, there’s more than one way to make music with one.
And here we are like savages using our knife just for food prep.
Also, do you want to say it or should we? Okay, we have no shame, we’ll do it: that’s one hot medley!
This might seem nuts, but Biale is no stranger to playing his bass with unconventional items, which he shares on his YouTube page Davie504, like in this video where he crossed the musical streams by using a drumstick.
But if he wants to continue doing food-appropriate covers, here’s a quick list of possible bands and musicians that would work for a possible followup video:
- The Cranberries
- Korn
- Bread
- The Black Eyed Peas
- Cake
- Meat Loaf
- Fiona Apple
- The Smashing Pumpkins
He might have made this amazing breakthrough, but now we’re hungry for more.
What band, food-named or otherwise, would you like to see him do a more literal-style cover of next? Rock out with your best ideas in our comments below.
