Second RAMPAGE Trailer Features a Flying Wolf (Obviously)

I say if you’re going to try to make a movie out of an old arcade game about giant animals leveling cities, you should at least have fun with it. With the first teaser and trailer for Dwayne Johnson‘s upcoming Rampage movie, we got to see a fair amount of mayhem inflicted by George, the friendly yet imposing albino gorilla who becomes a massive building-smashing menace, with only hints at the giant wolf and giant lizard. With the latest trailer, there’s no hinting about it; we see Lizzie the lizard in all her jet-snapping glory…and yes, Ralph the wolf flies.

Tone is going to be key to the movie’s success, and we get a much clearer look at the winking humor amid all the CGI destruction. Pre-rampage George making a new zookeeper poop his drawers is a good place to start, and just the very idea that the Rock works in a zoo and still has to save the world is silly enough to let you know what you’re in for. We get more of Jeffrey Dean Morgan doing his patented charming, smiling villain routine, and Malin Akerman is evidently part of the corporate/science scheme to affect genetics through gaseous propellants. Good plan.

But it’s the big ol’ animals that are the stars of the show, because let’s face it…wolves don’t fly. Genetic modification has run amok! And, as you might expect, George the gorilla will turn good just in time to take down Lizzie, in New Line’s attempt to give us the Kong/Godzilla fight before that movie even comes out. And Rampage comes out on April 20… 4/20…they know what they’re doing.

What other giant animal would be fun to see on the big screen? Let us know in the comments below!
