Rain City Superheroes Vs. Domestic Violence

Whatever you think of the folks like Phoenix Jones and Purple Reign running around Seattle in costume as real-life superheroes fighting crime, they’re doing something that’s worth noting, and if you’re in the Seattle area, you might want to be part of it. On May 12th, they’ll be part of the “Healing Reign Music Benefit & Auction,” which is being held at the Nectar Lounge in Seattle to raise funds for resources for domestic violence victims.

The event is part of the Purple Reign Campaign, which arose from Purple Reign’s background as a survivor of domestic violence, and she’s donating all the funds raised in the campaign to Northwest Family Life, a Seattle-area non-profit offering education programs, advocacy, counseling and treatment for victims of domestic violence. At the benefit, Quickie, which has a single about, and named after, Phoenix Jones, will debut the song’s music video; another local band, Ghost Town Riot, will also appear; and several items donated by local businesses will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the cause. Rain City Superheroes members and the bands will be on hand for autographs and pictures, and Rainn Wilson will contribute a special video message of support.

The release about the auction, with all the pertinent information, is available by clicking here. You know, maybe running around in costume isn’t the safest way to effect change, but helping local organizations help victims of domestic abuse… THAT’S heroic.
