Quentin Tarantino Confirms His Films Share The Same Universe

The Tarantinoverse is real. For years, fans have followed the connections between the films of Quentin Tarantino, but Tarantino himself never really confirmed it, until now. In fact, according to the man himself, there are two Tarantino movie universes.

While making an appearance on The Project in Australia, Tarantino said that the single Tarantinoverse theory “isn’t 100% correct.” Instead, the Tarantinoverse is divided by the reality of Tarantino’s more grounded stories and the heightened reality of some of Tarantino’s wilder films.

“There’s a realer than real universe, alright, that all the characters inhabit,” said Tarantino. “So basically when the characters of Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction, when they go to the movies… Kill Bill is what they go see. From Dusk Till Dawn is what they go see.”

That’s intriguing, but even some of Tarantino’s “realer than real” movies have shades of the fantastic in them. Would Inglorious Basterds be considered part of the Tarantino movieverse because they kill Hitler at the end? And if so, would Sgt. Donnie Donowitz (Eli Roth) from Inglorious Basterds still be the grandfather of Lee Donowitz (Saul Rubinek) from True Romance?

It’s easier to trace the Vega brothers, Vincent (John Travolta) and Vic (Michael Madsen) from Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, respectively. Although the Vega brothers never shared the screen, that was a connection that Tarantino had confirmed a long time ago. It’s also been pointed out that the failed TV pilot mentioned by Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) in Pulp Fiction essentially described the Bride’s former team in Kill Bill.
