Production Designer Mark S. Freeborn On BREAKING BAD and BETTER CALL SAUL

It’s safe to say that Breaking Bad is one of the greatest television shows of all time. When the AMC drama that turned “Mr. Chips into Scarface” came to a close in the fall of 2013, series creator Vince Gilligan announced a prequel series: Better Call Saul. Recently it was announced that Jonathan Banks who played Mike Ehrmantraut on Breaking Bad would reprise his role next to Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman.

Nerdist spoke with Breaking Bad production designer Mark S. Freeborn. a nominee for his work on the series finale episode “Felina,” at the 18th annual Art Directors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, and inquired about his potential involvement with the spin-off. “Let me put it to you this way,” said Freeborn, “Vince [Gilligan], Peter [Gould] and I talked today.”

And what about the time period of Better Call Saul? Is the show a true Breaking Bad prequel? “It’s probably going to have an arc of about 15 years, 20 years. Mostly rooted in the present day… I think sort of a prequel. It’s about Saul. That’s the best way to put it.”

Freeborn also sang the praises of Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, saying, “I have been doing this for a long time, it is the single best experience in film I have had,” adding, “He’s great. He’s a collaborator.”

Better Call Saul will premiere on AMC in November of this year.

  7. These days of austerity and also relative anxiety about getting debt, many people balk against the idea of utilizing a credit card in order to make purchase of merchandise as well as pay for any gift giving occasion, preferring, instead just to rely on the tried and also trusted means of making transaction – cash. However, if you have the cash available to make the purchase 100 %, then, paradoxically, this is the best time for you to use the cards for several motives.
