Previewing “The Nerdist” with Buzz Aldrin and Bobak Ferdowsi, Plus A Contest

We’ve told you that the upcoming episode of The Nerdist on BBC America is all about space, and this promo shows that we’re not kidding, Buzz Aldrin and JPL “Mohawk Guy” Bobak Ferdowsi are the guests. Is there another show on TV that would have this lineup? Plus Maria Bamford? Nope, just The Nerdist.

So you should watch on Saturday night, 10/9c, BBC America, after new episodes of Doctor Who and Orphan Black. (Or, in Canada, Sunday, 7/6c/4p on Space) But BBC America has another BBC DVD autographed by Chris, Jonah, and Matt to give away, so before you watch, enter by clicking here and posting in the comments section on that page your answer to this question: “If you could visit one planet in our solar system, what would it be and why? What would you attempt to accomplish?” (I’d travel to Earth and try to win the lottery because… oh, wait, that’s what I’m doing now) Again, DON’T post your answer below. Not here. You should click here and post your answer on THAT page. And do it before Saturday night, May 11th, 11 pm ET.

Oh, and while you cogitate, here’s Buzz Aldrin talking about TMZ, Lindsay Lohan, and divorce:

And here’s Buzz talking abut meteors ‘n’ aliens:

Do. Not. Miss. This. One.

I’ve been looking for a place to say that I was very annoyed by the episode with Buzz Aldrin and Bobak Ferdowsi.

They had two great minds on there and decided to play the shittiest game on earth with them for their segment; blowing Buzz, to his chagrin, the entire time. You could tell he thought the show was going to be smarter than it was.

Then, to add insult to injury, after the two guys with brains left, the three guys start to discuss space, asking each other questions as if we cared to know more about their answers than the two guys who were just on. Who, you know, have actual experience with the subject matter. Just terrible.
