Premiere Trailer for BBC America’s New Series INTRUDERS Looks Terrifying

So, you’re naturally very sad that Orphan Black is having its season finale tonight. However, you can start getting excited for what could very well be the next great BBC America original drama series: Intruders. Based on a novel by Michael Marshall Smith, the series will look at an ancient secret society that transfers their essences into the bodies of the recently deceased. That’s eerie as all hell. Have a look at the trailer!

The series stars Life on Mars and Doctor Who actor John Simm, Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino, Tron: Legacy‘s James Frain, True Detective‘s Tory Kittles, and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland‘s Millie Brown.

It’s created and executive produced by Glen Morgan of The X-Files, so pretty good pedigree there, and will be directed by The Blair Witch Project‘s Eduardo Sanchez and The Last Exorcism‘s Daniel Stamm. And, just to round out the stellar behind-the-scenes people, the executive producers for BBC Worldwide are Jane Tranter, who was instrumental in bringing Doctor Who back in 2005, and Julie Gardner, who served as producer on Who through the entire Russell T. Davies regime. Yeah, it’s a pretty amazing group.

Most intriguing to me is the premiere date: August 23rd at 10/9c. Now, if you’ll recall, it was announced that Doctor Who will come back some time in August, with my money leveled at mid-to-late in the month. There’s no word yet if Intruders will be 10 episodes like Orphan Black or more or fewer, but my guess would be they’ll premiere Doctor Who either the same night or the week prior. Just a guess, mind you, but an educated one.

At any rate, are you intrigued by Intruders? Looks pretty good to me. What are some of your favorite body-snatching movies and TV shows? Let’s talk in the comments section because otherwise what the hell is it for?

Intriguing but it seems the “intruders” steal living bodies not the recently deceased which would be a bit less evil.

John Simm doing an American accent alone might take me out of this series… I’ll give it a try though.
