F–k Wikipedia. It’s a a malformed mass of burning garbage, and you don’t need it. “But how am I going to learn about the differences between zebras and horses or how sex stuff works?” you are probably asking yourself.
Worry not! Summer & Eve, the comedic folk-pop outfit has all the answers you have been searching for in their current Above Average series, “Summer & Eve Explains Things.” This week, friends Nadia Quinn, Emily Tarver, Rebecca Kaasa and Aaron Quinn serenade two curious men about what massive advancements in technology and humanity the future holds: “There won’t be cancer or disease, but everyone has extra arms and legs!” the group sings on there latest track, “Future”. Seems like a fair trade to me.
The perfectly absurd song that revolves around the contemporary idea that we already live in the future stems from an actual fascination with technology from the group and the video’s director.
Discussing his fascination with the technology of the future, Director Nik Perleros says:Â “In the 1940s the best technology we had was the washing machine, or the refrigerator was pretty dope, but the military had nuclear bombs. I am just terrified–like if we have smartphones, what is the technology that we donât know about. That is the stuff that freaks me out.”
In the song Summer & Eve sing about the “iPhone 35,” and when I ask Emily about what its main selling point would be, she decides very quickly it would just be an implant and quickly jokes, “I have been with my iPhone more than I have ever been with a human.” Same. It’s the future already.
