Premiere: Mobley’s Cover of ‘Long Way Down’ Is Spot On and Stormy

As I write this, it is 3:30 AM in Los Angeles, and it feels like the world is imploding. I am blasting Mobley’s cover of Robert Delong’s “Long Way Down”, and I feel like entropy will soon reign–I am being sucked into the very vortex that the Austin, Texas, band is singing so forebodingly about.

But alas, there is hope in the confluence of the vocals here. Amidst the disquieting effects and instrumentation–a harbinger of some storm on the horizon–LEV and Mobley’s mollifying harmonies feel like they could stave off the impending chaos. Nothing like a good cover to make you appreciate the artfulness of the original.

If you happen to be in the San Marcos, Texas area next weekend (August 28 – 30) , you can catch Mobley and a ton of other great acts (Bun B!?) at Float Fest, which is a music festival and also a giant tubing event. The inner midwesterner in me yearns for this, and though Mobley’s track feels stormy, I am betting on clear skies in Texas.

If you are digging this song and want to explore a bit more, be sure to head to Mobley’s SoundCloud page. Let us know what you guys think in the comments below!
