Premiere: Mega Ran’s ‘Laughin’ At Ya’ is an Anthem about Loving Video Games

When Raheem Jarbo first started rapping about the things he actually cared about, he got a lot of weird looks and incredulous comments. Some people simply laughed at him. That is the bullshit that motivated him to keep grinding, and become a full time rapper who unabashedly loves video games and comics. With “Laughin’ At Ya” we see Ran looking back confidently at all his trials and tribulations.

Dressed eerily as Alan Moore’s “Joker” to emphasize the villainous mockery the rapper was once and perhaps still is subjected to, Ran begins with smaller issues and ultimately finds himself discussing more philosophically loaded ideas: “You can make all the plans that you want but you know that G-O-D he got his / That’s why he’s laughin at ya.” We feel that. What is the point of wasting your time worrying about what other people think of your interests when you could just be hustling and enjoying the things you like. As usual, Ran speaks the truth.

“Laughing At Ya” appears on Mega Ran’s latest album RNDM, which you can buy right here. We also had an in-depth discussion with Ran during this year’s Comic-Con, and you can check that below.
