Premiere: Better Off’s New Album MILK is Full of Weekend Anthems

Welcome to Friday afternoon; here are 13 rowdy, sad, emo-indebted rock tracks that will heighten and exaggerate all the emotions you are likely already exhibiting as you wait out the clock until your weekend release. Better Off, the Nashville-based foursome and composers and of said music have just released their sophomore album Milk, and we are supremely stoked to premiere it right here on Nerdist.

The album, which is out now via Equal Vision Records, feels like a reverential ode to bands that have influenced the group: think Motion City Soundtrack meets Saves The Day, meets Taking Back Sunday. Perhaps the fact that Saves The Day’s Arun Bali produced the peanut butter and jelly adorned album has something to do with this. And yet, all the tracks have a modern aggression and electricity that the group has worked hard to channel. Check out the YouTube stream above and prepare to feel, at once, nostalgic, angsty, happy, bummed, and rowdy.

Describing how the group collectively arrived at the sound of their sophomore record, guitarist-vocalist Luke Granered explains, “The thing that makes Milk most exciting for us as a band is the natural growth that happened in the process. We figured out what Better Off is supposed to sound like…It goes fast, it goes slow. It gets heavy, it gets light. But you should know it’s us when you hear it.”

Milk is out now via Equal Vision Records.
