Premiere: Baroness’ “Kerosene” is a Soaring Metal Track

For those about to rock, we salute you.

We are super proud to present all you hard rockers out there with a track from the upcoming Baroness album, Purple. This bad boy is called “Kerosene” and you can hear it in all it’s glory below. Joining a handful of other tracks released thus far, “Kerosene” might be the best to date. The full album is out this Friday, December 18, so after you get pumped from this track be sure to go pre-order the whole thing.

“Kerosene” is exactly the sort of thing we’ve come to expect from Baroness: epic and rocking, with soaring guitars and gruff, harmony-driven vocals. The opening guitar riff is whimsical and pretty, right up until a brutal drum roll crushes everything in its path. It’s heavy, but with an almost pop sensibility; metal you can sing along with. Definitely another keeper from one of the most dynamic metal outfits making music right now. It’s good stuff, guys, and we can’t wait to hear the rest of Purple.

Baroness have always named their albums after colors, and it seems that the songs are also shaped around those hues. Purple leaves you bruised, but it’s also a regal, majestic color. It’s the color of the night sky and your black eye. Pain and beauty. “Kerosene” showcases all of these disparately related ideas. So, do yourself a solid–you’ve been good this year, right?–and pick up a copy of this record. Hell, just look at that cover art below. How can you not want that on your record shelf?
