POWERS Adds Michael Madsen for Season 2

The second season of the highly acclaimed, Playstation-exclusive series Powers has started production and Sony has released a statement that Michael Madsen will be joining the cast. Known for tough-guy characters like Mr. Blond in Reservoir Dogs, Madsen will be playing the role of a very famous—yet mysterious—superhero known as SuperShock.

The new season will revolve around the “Who Killed Retro Girl?” storyline from the Image Comics series. The story finds Walker, Pilgrim, and the Powers Division investigating the murder of a high profile Power named Retro Girl, being played by Michelle Forbes. Along the way, SuperShock—the series’ parallel to a Superman or Captain Marvel (Shazam) type of superhero—steps back into the public eye after retiring from the superhero gig forty years earlier. This wouldn’t be so strange if he hadn’t left under mysterious circumstances all those years ago. Whether or not he has a connection to Retro Girl’s death will have to be found out from watching the new season, but it would be rare to see Madsen take on a role that doesn’t hold a sinister side to it.

The new season is slated to be coming out in 2016, but those interested in getting reacquainted with Madsen earlier than that can catch him in Quentin Tarantino’s Hateful Eight this Christmas. Also be sure to check out, or revisit, the first season of Powers in order to prepare for the forthcoming season. Powers can be streamed free by Playstation Network members, purchased through the Playstation Store, or picked up on Blu-Ray.

Do you think Madsen will be a good addition to the show? Sound off in the comments below.
