Power Up with POKEMON Bulbasaur BulbaSmores

Saturday, October 25th (that’s tomorrow!), Team Nerdist will be participating in our annual 24 hour Extra Life live-stream. We’ll be playing all manner of games to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. You can help our team by donating, raising money for our team, and watching us live on Twitch! (More info here.)

24 hours of gaming requires tenacious energy, relentless stamina and of course… sugar. When it comes to powering up, nothing gets you going like the triple combo of cookies, chocolate and marshmallow. Add in some themed components and regular s’mores become BulbaSmores!

Green tea cookie Bulbasaurs sandwich together luscious chocolate and a melty toasted marshmallow, making for the ultimate Pokemon dessert evolution. Gotta catch ’em all!

Pokemon BulbaS’mores
– makes 12*

Ingredients
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– pinch of salt
– 1 Tablespoon matcha (green tea powder)
– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup sugar
– 1 egg
– pink icing
– red icing
– white icing
– 12 small chocolate bars
– 12 marshmallows

In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and matcha.

In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar until combined.

Add the egg then slowly add in the dry ingredients until the dough comes together. The dough will form quickly, and when it starts to pull away from the bowl, it’s ready.

Split the dough into two and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill until you are ready to use.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats.

Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.

Flour the cutter well, cut out the shapes and transfer onto the prepped baking sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.

Once the cookies are completely cool, set aside 12 cookies for the bottom of the s’mores.

On the other 12 cookies use a #4 tip and pink icing to fill in the tongue area.

With the red icing and a #3 tip fill in the eye areas.

Use the white icing and #2 tip to add the whites of the pupils to complete the eyes. Also add two small teeth on both sides of the tongue area.

Place chocolate bars on top of the 12 plain cookies previously set aside.

Add a toasted marshmallow on top to melt the chocolate.

Finally, place the decorated cookies on top of the marshmallow, pressing down slightly to serve.
