POWER RANGERS Reboot Looking to Morph with Fresh Faces

Go go casting rumors!

The Power Rangers are set to return with a big screen reboot in January 2017, which means it’s morphin casting time, and reports say Lionsgate is looking at some less famous young faces to fill the roles of the teenage heroes.

Variety reports that the studio will be auditioning some actors for the five Rangers, and they have some actual names allegedly under consideration for three of the mighty roles. It is a list made up of very young, and in many cases very inexperienced, actors.

The Red Ranger (Jason):

  • KJ Apa (only listed credit is Shortland Street)
  • Austin Butler (The Carrie Diaries)
  • Mitchell Hope (The Descendants)

The Black Ranger (Zach):

  • Daniel Zovatto (It Follows)
  • Ross Butler (K.C. Undercover)
  • Brian “Sene” Marc (the upcoming White Girl and Nerve)

The Pink Ranger (Kimberly):

Besides needing to cast the Yellow and Blue Rangers, could we see the White and/or Green Rangers show up as well? How many roles might be available for potential new stars?

Reports are the studio is looking for a much more established, well-known veteran actor to play the chief villain of the mega-machine wielding teens.

Ashley Miller and Zach Stentz, who both wrote Thor and X-Men: First Class, are penning the script. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers originally debuted in 1993, and resulted in two big screen movies.

What young actor would you like to see saving the world? What veteran actor would make a great villain? Power up your best ideas in the comments section below.
