Postmodern Jukebox NAIL This Cover of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’

Alright, we’ve been here before folks. Scott Bradlee and his Postmodern Jukebox are a powerhouse of astounding musical talent. Lets just run down the times we’ve featured their awesomeness.

Aqua’s “Barbie Girl”? Check. Slow-jam Ducktales Theme? Double check. Lounge-y version of Radiohead’s “Creep”? Triple check! Need we go on? Oh because we can and will!  Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood”, “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” by the Talking Heads, and even “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys are among the band’s repertoire.

Frankly, we’re never going to get tired of their old timey re-imagining of hit songs because it’s not only a delight to hear but serves as a litmus test of whether or not a song is well written. So far, their covers have proved that the writing is pretty strong across the board as they seamlessly transition into entirely different musical genres.

2008’s quadruple platinum (yeah, that’s a thing) “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” by Beyoncé was and still is an unstoppable force in the musical world. Catchy as can be with a massively imitable video to boot, there is nary a person in the modern world that doesn’t know at least a few words to it.

Bradlee & co. know how to make a song their own with their jazzy version. Replacing the “oh oh oh’s” with loungey horns brings the song back to another time but not without paying tribute to Queen Bey’s iconic video with the proper back-up dancing to accompany jazz vocalist Ariana Savalas.
