So, this video has been on YouTube for a year now but made it to the front page of Reddit Tuesday and to my attention for the first time. The Philips Parallel Lines “Tell It Your Way” competition gave filmmakers the challenge of 3 minutes max and 6 lines of the following dialogue to bring their best:
Whatâs That?
Itâs a Unicorn
Never seen one up close before
Beautiful
Get away, get away
Iâm sorry.
What Keegan Wilcox wins the Grand Prize with in Porcelain Unicorn is so far from what I started thinking about yet so perfect. Â Take a look.

Incredible! 3:00 minutes of filmmaking that dwarves anything I’ve seen in theaters this year.
I hadn’t seen that yet, either. And it was well worth the 3:02 of my time. Applause for that little masterpiece Keegan!
Oh my God, that was … I can’t even think now. Brilliant. Just, wow.
Thank you for bringing that to OUR attention!
Nerdist made me tear up a bit. Well done, person who made that.
That was stunning.
@Dieverdog–I absolutely agree, the restraints were a huge part of what made it inventive and special for me. Knowing what the next line was and wondering where/how they were going to play it changed how I was looking at it for sure.
Fantastic result of a very intriguing and cool competition!
Wow…that was actually…wow…it…
Wow – great story in 3 minutes! Very interesting and moving. Sometimes it’s more interesting what one can do with very tight restraints – and yet come up with something so totally creative and unique. I hadn’t seen this yet either, so thanks for sharing it!
That made me cry. Thanks a lot :/
