Pop Culture Easter Eggs Include STAR WARS, POKÉMON, STRANGER THINGS, and More

Easter Sunday has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t appreciate the custom Easter eggs that were created this year. Artist Barak Hardley has made it a tradition to unleash several new egg designs inspired by celebrities and pop culture icons, and this year was no exception. Via io9, AWE me has released a video that assembles Hardley’s eclectic Easter egg creations. The usual array of pop culture giants, like Star Wars and Pokémon. But some of them were unexpected, including his renditions of Beavis and Butthead, as well as four of Patrick Warburton’s signature roles: Brock Samson, Joe Swanson, Lemony Snicket, and the Tick. But we particularly liked the randomness of the Wilsons:

The Wilsons

Of the three Wilsons, we’d still take Tom Hanks’ beach ball from Cast Away as the one we’d take to a deserted island. For this year’s batch, Hardley also created eggs based on Spider-Man, Black Panther, the Infinity Gauntlet, Harley Quinn, John Wick, Moana, and several influential figures in politics and sports. And there’s at least one cartoon frog that didn’t make it out of the video in one piece.

“I put about 150+ hours into making these eggs and the video,” wrote Hardley on his website. “And I’m telling myself- unconvincingly- that it was worth it.” We can’t speak for everyone, be we definitely think it was worth it! You can see pictures of all of Hardley’s 2017 Easter eggs here. And if you want to see Hardley’s 2016 Easter eggs, those have also been given the spotlight on his site.
