Pooping Sharks, Broken Bones, and the Slipknot-Bieber Experience: What We Learned At Nerdist This Week

Is it the end of the week already? Yes, yes, it is, and not a moment too soon, at least for me. I had a LOT of work. I hope, for your sake, that you had a less busy week, or at least had the time to stop by here and experience the world of Nerdist.

What we did, saw, and discussed this week:

1. The new Wonder Woman: Does PVC equal “slut?” We hosted the debate.

2. Kanderson gave us a rundown of some of the top Doctor Who podcasts. He made no suggestions on how to find the time to listen to all of them. I would advise you to listen on your iPhone or iPod Touch and use the “2X” speed option.

3. We saw recorded history in exploding dot form and people using a Kinect for something a little more noble and important than playing games.

4. The guys tried to decode Brad Meltzer.

5. Shark poop!

6. Jay saw “Paul.” He liked it.

7. Steven Seagal kicked ass in 3 minutes and 45 seconds of bone-crunching savagery. Ah, the good old days.

8. Appliances made music. Sort of.

9. In a highly controversial post the repercussions of which will be felt for decades, Justin Bieber and Slipknot got mashed up.

10. New Doctor Who teaser! Torchwood: Miracle Day has a start date! Captain America trailer!

11. We announced that Chris would be at Wondercon. To moderate a Doctor Who panel on April 3rd. With Neil Gaiman, Mark Sheppard, and Toby Haynes. I think there are people sitting in the room prepared to wait over a week to see that one.

12. Becca tried to wash the taste of Rebecca Black out of everyone’s mouth with some Fight the Big Bull.

13. Coming up, we’ll have the exclusive five-day forecast for Alderaan. You’ll probably want to put on some sunblock before heading out on Wednesday.

14. Patrick joined us to review a classic game, Baldur’s Gate.

15. “You’re regretting former boners.” Also, Matt wants Dunkin’ Donuts back in L.A. and he wants it NOW.

16. Fringe was renewed, and there was much rejoicing across the land, and at the production offices.

17. Is it possible to make the story behind time zones interesting? Mmmmmmaybe. Your call. (Go to the globe thing, spin it, and click the video links)

18. We dropped in on a support group for people who prefer the earlier, more accessible Radiohead. It does not really exist, although you could try picking a random 12-step meeting and see if they’ll be sympathetic.

And if you’re in fabulous Southern California (motto: “Has it stopped raining yet?”), you’ll want to visit one of the upcoming events at Nerdist Theater @ Meltdown, including Adam WarRock, geek emcee (April 11th); Rob Schrab’s book release party (April 14th), featuring some important names in comedy; and shows featuring Don’t Stop or We’ll Die (April 23rd) and an epic night of dancing to video game music (April 30th).

Remember, Chris is on The Soup (the one on E! with Joel McHale) Friday night, so watch that, and if you haven’t bought tickets to see Chris at Chicopee (April 8th) or Boston (April 9th), go do that now (Chicopee here, Boston here) .  Feel free to converse about whatever you want in the comments all weekend, and, of course, enjoy your burrito, with chips and salsa and extra cheese, even.
