ULTRA SUN and ULTRA MOON Creators Play POKÉMON “Who Am I?”

Last month, the long-running Pokémon franchise expanded with the release of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. To celebrate the debut of the game, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon director Kazumasa Iwao and producer Shigeru Ohmori appeared in two videos that combine the party game “Who Am I” with the popular “Who’s That Pokémon?” segments from the anime. But as it turns out, even the game’s creative team can find it difficult to describe two of the less complicated creatures that inhabit that world.

We found these videos via Kotaku. In the first one, Iwao tried to subtly convey the information to Ohmori by giving him responses that played up on Litten’s cat-like qualities. The two men managed to baffle each other when Iwao used his arms to portray Litten’s size, and the cat hints kept going over Ohmori’s head. Most cat lovers probably would have gotten it as soon as Iwao said that it “grooms itself,” but it took some very specific details before Ohmori finally figured it out.

For the second round, the tables were turned as Ohmori had to describe a Magikarp to Iwao. Once again, Ohmori failed while trying to physically mime the Magikarp’s size, but he made the moment even more hilarious when he spontaneously tried to mimic Magikarp’s noises. Spoiler alert: that didn’t help at all.

We’d be very curious to see how they would describe some of the game’s more outlandish creatures. That could make for a very entertaining continuing series.
