PlayStation 4 Price Has Officially Been Cut to $350

Sony has officially announced a price cut for the PlayStation 4, which will now retail for $349.99 instead of the usual $399.99.  That’s not all, bundles that have been introduced, including the limited edition Star Wars console, and they will also be cheaper. Even our friends from Canada will be able to nab a PS4 at a cheaper rate. We recently reported that a Target Ad prematurely outed the news, so it was only a matter of time before it was made official.

This new price tag will go into effect tomorrow, October 9.

This is actually the first time the PS4 has received an official price cut here in NA, so there’s no better time to purchase one. Like I’ve said before, Sony is really playing their current situation incredibly well. The real news should be their lack of exclusives launching this holiday season, especially since Microsoft has such a robust catalog of games that will be available by Christmas. But, the Japanese company is doing a great job of not letting that fact to slow them down.

Dropping the tag on the PS4 to $349.99 also puts their game machine at the same entry price as the Xbox One. Sony is playing chess and doing so masterfully. Now we must wait to see what Microsoft’s next move is. The Xbox team has done an excellent job of coming back from their disastrous Xbox One E3 reveal from a couple of years ago. The console is now selling extremely well, despite being overshadowed by its competitor. It’ll be interesting to see which strategy from these two companies works out best in the coming months. My money is on Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider doing wonders for the Xbox One.

Will you be purchasing a PS4 now? Which gaming console do you believe will sell the most this season? Let us know in the comments below.
