Player Piano Created an Epic TOMB RAIDER 20th Anniversary Music Video

It’s hard to believe that Tomb Raider is twenty years old this year. That’s twenty years of questionable archeological practice, exotic exploration, and locking butlers in walk-in freezers. To celebrate this momentous achievement, YouTube sensation Player Piano has teamed up with Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix to create a sweeping piano medley of iconic tunes from the venerable gaming series. In addition to the medley, Player Piano created a jaw-dropping music video, directed by Tom Grey, that features composer and pianist Sonya Belousova, dressed as Lara Croft, playing her piano in locales so far-flung that they seem ripped straight from a Tomb Raider game. The music video made its debut on Thursday at New York Comic Con during the Tomb Raider presentation.

“I had an incredible time composing and producing the music for Crystal Dynamics,” said Belousova in a press release. “My goal was to reflect the spirit and the journey of the Tomb Raider franchise by travelling all the way from the intimate solo piano moments through the dark romantic lush strings to the epicness of the whole symphony orchestra.”

In addition to the music video, Player Piano has made the 20 Year Celebration Medley available to download for free on Soundcloud. They have also made sheet music available if you fancy yourself the next Sonya Belousova and want to tickle the ivories, Tomb Raider-style.
