“A tattered straitjacket is erratically adorned with dynamite, a flower, cans of pepper spray, and an alarm clock. Combined with his playing cards and a pistol with a flag as interchangeable parts, this ensemble shows the characterâs madness, oozing from within.”
Don’t ask how, but in the reality depicted by this new Play Arts Kai (that we first noticed over at Toyark), Batman has merged with the Joker. In the first of their new series of figures mashing up Batman with his rogue’s gallery, Bats met Two-Face in the same body, which was a natural first step for dualityâyou could still see half of Bruce in there. For the second, the Dark Knight has gone full Joker, complete with Heath Ledger-ish scars and a strap-laden Batsuit reminiscent of a straitjacket. He also bears more than a slight resemblance to Ryuk, the apple-loving shinigami from Death Note.
Joker-Batman comes with extra hands, an additional sad/disgusted face, playing cards, “Bang!” flag for his gun, knife, gold gun, and Batarang. And one could make the case that his Batsuit functions better in its original purpose than even Bruce Wayne’s: you don’t have to be part of a “superstitious, cowardly lot” to find this particular iteration frightening, and the last thing you’d ever want to encounter in Crime Alley.
Scheduled for release in March, this approximately 8-inch tall figure designed by Hitoshi Kondo can be preordered now for $199.99. Check out the gallery below then tell us, all joking aside, will this frightening funster be coming home to you? Put a smile on our faces by commenting below.
