PLANETSIDE 2 PS4 Closed Beta Coming This Month

If you’ve been looking for more free-to-play games to spark up on your PlayStation 4 console, then you’re due for some good news: the Planetside 2 closed beta will finally go live on PS4 starting January 20. Players can click this link now to sign up to be a part of phase one of the festivities.

“We’ll be using this beta period to test our servers, performance, and various other aspects of the game, and we also want you to share constructive feedback on PlanetSide 2,” said the game’s Executive Producer, Clint Worley. No word on when the beta period will actually be ending, and there’s a good chance that it could remain up and running for a rather large span of time as SOE uses us as digital guinea pigs in the name of having the game ready for full launch.

PS2

Planetside 2 is a massive free-to-play first-person shooter that focuses on faction-based warfare in a style similar to that seen in the Battlefield series, but instead set in an rich science fiction environment. The game originally launched on the PC back in November of 2012, and has since grown a large dedicated player base– exactly what SOE is hoping to do with their console run as well.

Unfortunately, there isn’t any keyboard or mouse support for the PS4 version of Planetside 2, so for folks who’ve already gotten use to the game on the PC, and don’t want to hunker down and readjust to the playing on a Dual Shock 4, it may be wise stick to your guns (no pun) and let the little console newbies all learn together. That’s right bullies– there’s no cross-play feature here, so stick to your platform.
