Pickstarter: RICK AND MORTY Concept Album by Allie Goertz!

Here at Nerdist HQ, we love Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty and we also love the adorably nerdy music of Allie Goertz. So when we heard Goertz had created a Kickstarter campaign to fund a Rick and Morty concept album, we were—of course—gonna recommend it!

Goertz is a part of the extended Nerdist family as she runs the social media accounts for @midnight. Goertz is also a very talented singer and songwriter, whose previous crowd-sourced album had an unfortunate title: Cossbysweater. As for Rick and Morty, it’s the creation of Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon that follows the misadventures of an alcoholic scientist named Rick and his grandson, Morty. And it’s amazing.

As part of her Rick and Morty campaign, Goertz has enlisted music video director Paul B. Cummings to helm a video set to her song “Dance Bitch,” which she promises will be “funny, sad, and filled with blood.” Among the rewards currently being offered are the digital album, signed posters, t-shirts, and a live 20 minute music set that Goertz will perform over Skype.

At press time, Goertz has already surpassed her funding goal of $3,000 and she’s added two stretch goals. Once funding hits the $5,000 mark, Goertz will also produce a music video for her song “Mr. Poopy Butthole.” And at $10,000, Goertz will produce two additional songs which will be released separately from the Rick and Morty album.

The Rick and Morty album and music video campaign will run until Friday, October 16 at 9pm PST. For more information, visit the campaign page here. And if you need more convincing that this is a worthy project, here’s Goertz’s “Everything’s Coming Up Milhouse,” which was inspired by The Simpsons!
