Pickstarter: RANGER DANGER, A Horror-Comedy Short

Today’s Pickstarter comes from writer-director Jaz Moore who has set out to make the ultimate horror/comedy short titled Ranger Danger. Ranger Danger is a short stylized horror/comedy that pays homage to slasher flicks, creature features, and everything in between. The film has over 30 direct horror references in the dialogue, story, and production design including The Shining, Suspiria, Monsters, The Conjuring, American Horror Story as well as nearly 50 horror tropes like doll masks, a “Final Girl,” creatureʼs from the deep, cannibal hill people and lots more!

“For two years I have been waiting to shoot Ranger Danger and it’s finally time!” Said writer-director and horror fan Jaz Moore. “There is nothing in the world I love more than horror; so to be able to bring to life a film that pays homage to the entire spectrum of the genre, from monster movie to slasher flick, is a dream come true.”

The plot synopsis goes like this: After an uneventful first week at his new job for Crystal Lake National Park, Johnny (Steven Low) is ready for some valiant action. Unfortunately, his alcoholic Boss Charlie (Jason Wendt) wants less to do with heroics and more to do with nursing a permanent hangover. When Johnny is banished to smoke scanning duty for the night he slowly begins to notice supernatural occurrences in the forest. It isn’t until a raving Final Girl (Tamara Fernandez) barges into the Ranger Station that it dawns on him. Johnny is working in a universe full of horror cliches and everyone has a part to play whether they like it or not!

The film boasts talent like Parenthood‘s Tamara Fernandez, Rachel Paulson (Kleptos), Steven Low (Made In China), and Jason Wendt (General Hospital) and features walk on monster roles (awesome), tickets to the premiere, set visit opportunities, bumper stickers and others.

If you want to see an action-packed horror/comedy short made by fans for fans, donate to the Ranger Danger Kickstarter now! They have just eleven days to go…
