How many times have you frantically searched your purse, briefcase, or apartment hunting for your elusive cellphone, only to find it twenty minutes later shoved in your back pocket? Don’t worry – you don’t have to tell us. Our number is probably embarrassingly higher than yours, anyway. You should stop worrying about this little problem though, because Jing Zhou, the journalist-turned-entrepreneur Founder of Elemoon, has the perfect accessory for you.
Elemoon is a new piece of wearable tech that Zhou and her team are funding on Kickstarter this month. The elegant bracelet combines a touch interface, activity sensor, and colorful lights to keep you in the know.
In the introduction video alone, the prototype bracelets can be programmed to match your outfit, find lost cellphones, and program special subtle notifications via light patterns to alert you to a VIP caller when you’re on a date or in a meeting. And the Kickstarter page indicates that thanks to supporter feedback and suggestions, they are adding personal tracking to the function of the bracelet, too.
The potential uses of a piece of wearable tech like this are mind-boggling. On the personal end, you could track fitness goals with a pedometer-like function, get out of a terrible date situation with coded messages to your friends, and never have to worry about finding the perfect accessory to go with a single outfit again. On the safety end of things, you could program specific touch patterns to alert a close friend if you feel threatened while out on the town, track a thief who pickpockets your phone (though we’re assuming there is a distance limit here), and let a friend know you made it home safely if you’re walking alone late at night.
The Elemoon Kickstarter just launched in early August and already has almost 250 backers who have pledged more than $84K towards the $100k goal. The reward options range from an enthusiastic thank you (for $1) to 1 one-of-a-kind bracelet and 4 standard bracelets with custom engraving, as well as an invitation to the launch party (for $10K), so there are plenty of options to choose from if you decide to pledge your support. Their funding period ends September 26th.

Interesting, I just wish it wasn’t so ugly.
As an accessory it’s a disappointment, but I do like the concept.
