Pickstarter: An Emoji Card Game Called EMOJI CARDS

Card-based games have become the go-to party games nowadays. With games like Cards Against Humanity and Apples to Apples still being played at wedding receptions and birthday soirees the world over, the public seems ready for more simple yet addictive ways to spend an evening. Last year we told you about a game called Roots, which afforded players the opportunity to make up words using prefixes and suffixes, and this year we’ve got one that looks arguably more fun, if that’s possible. Get ready for Emoji Cards.

Everybody uses emoji in their texting in place of words or to convey different ideas, and specific emoji are popular enough to have their own t-shirts and accessories (I’m looking at you, Smiling Pile of Poop). Emoji Cards uses those familiar picture symbols redone in a unique pop-art style to get players to guess titles, phrases, or ideas from a series of categories.

For example: Let’s say you had these Emoji Cards sitting in front of you:

How would you try to get someone to guess the movie Birdman? Or Little Miss Sunshine? For Birdman, it could be as simple as taking the running man and having him “fly” around in the air. And maybe Little Miss Sunshine could be done from holding a smiley face over the piggy (Miss Piggy, anyone?). Well, it’s not easy, but that’s where the imagination comes in.

Learn some more about the game from the creators themselves.

The game makers are asking for $20,000 in order to fill production costs and shipping orders. That’s pretty much it. They want the game to be in people’s homes and played by fun-seekers, which we all are. Backing at the $25 amount gets you a set of Emoji Cards; more than that gets you expansion packs, custom emoji, and even the chance to have your custom emoji card become part of the standard game. That’s all pretty cool if you ask us.

The Kickstarter for Emoji Cards launched on Wednesday and will be active for the usual 30 days. We think this is a game you’ve very much like to play, so don’t delay.
