With the number of comic book conventions around the country at an all-time high, there has never been more cosplay on display. And one of the best cons for it is Arizona’s Phoenix Comicon, held every June at the Phoenix Convention Center. This weekend’s show was attended by countless fans taking on the roles of their favorite characters from film, TV, and comics. We paid a visit and snapped some pics of some of our favorites, which you can see in the gallery below.
Feast your eyes on some fun-loving creative folks cosplaying as the controversially high-heeled Bryce Dallas Howard in Jurassic World, the members of the Avengers and the Justice League, Furiosa and the War Boys of George Miller’s masterful Oscar nominee Mad Max: Fury Road, a whole platoon of Princess Leia/Disney Princess mashups, an eye-popping gender-swapped Golden Age Flash, Judy Hopps, and Nick Wilde of Zootopia, and the villains of Gotham City: Mr. Freeze, the Riddler, Joker, Scarecrow, and, of course, more Harley Quinns than you can shake a baseball bat at!
Seriously, if the good Doctor Quinzel isn’t the most popular pop culture character in North America right now, well, I don’t know who is. No wonder DC Entertainment chief Jim Lee recently told me that Harley is the company’s “fourth pillar.” (After Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, natch.)
