Renewals, cancellations, reunionsâwe have a little of everything in today’s TV-Cap. Dive on in to learn about the status of Peter Capaldi on Doctor Who, to get details on a Gilmore Girls marathon, to find out everything we know about season two of Stranger Things so far, and more.
More of the Twelfth. Change is part of the story of Doctor Who. A few years seems to be about as long as any one actor plays the Doctor, but that’s not a hard and fast rule. Peter Capaldi may be one of the few to stay around longer. Even though showrunner Steven Moffat is leaving after series 10, Capaldi might stay on as the Twelfth Doctor. Moffat told Doctor Who Magazine, “I have no reason to suppose that Iâm writing out a Doctor. Peter is loving the role, and long may he do so.” So, that’s not a confirmation or anythingâbut don’t count Capaldi out yet. [Nerdist]
Quid Pro Quo. Syfy’s Incorporated will put a whole different spin on the phrase “work ethic.” The show executive produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck is set in the near future, and big corporations hold all the power and control way too much. But one man is going to possibly change that. The series will arrive on November 30. [IGN]
this is hard to tweet, but word is that @POWERStheSERIES is sadly, no more. season 2 was the last. at least for now. 1/2

More and Less. Time for that renewal and cancellation news I mentioned: on the bright side, USA is bringing back Suits for a seventh season. On the other end, Brian Michael Bendis (writer of the Powers comics, among many others) shared the news that Sony PlayStation has cancelled Powers, with season two being the last season. Buy All the Snacks. If you have Netflix, you can marathon Gilmore Girls any time you want. But if you don’t, prepare to spend a week in front of the television watching a 153 episode marathon on the UP Network. They’ll be airing all seven seasons beginning November 18 at 6:00p.m. so fans can catch up before the November 25 release of Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. [Variety]
To the Great Beyond. Kristen Bell is starring in a new sitcom on NBC called The Good Place. Created by Michael Schur and Drew Goddard, the series follows Bell’s character, Eleanor, after she’s killed and mistakenly sent to afterlife. NBC brought the show to the Television Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour, and you can read more from the creators and cast about the upcoming series here at Nerdist.

A Snazzy Logo. The Legends of Tomorrow team encountered a member of the Justice Society of America at the end of season one. We’ll be seeing more of the group in season two, and series executive producer Marc Guggenheim shared the logo they’ll be using for the JSA. [Comic Book Resources]
Dreaming Together. USA is nailing it in the department of genre TV, and they’re hoping to continue that trend with Falling Water, premiering on October 13. The network brought the executive producers of the series to the TCAs to discuss the upcoming thriller that follows three people who come together in their dreams. Learn more about Falling Water right this way with a report from Joseph.
What Could Happen Next? Netflix hasn’t officially renewed Stranger Things for a second season, but they’d be foolish not to make a move given the response the show has received. Series creators the Duffer brothers have certainly been talking about future installments. We’ve compiled all the tidbits we’ve heard about season two in the latest Nerdist News–watch it above. Awww. The season three finale of Girl Meets World has quite the roster. Disney released a photo from the set showing a huge Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World reunion. Wow, this takes me back. [Slashfilm, Image: Disney]
Toe to Toe. Remember when the Starks and Lannisters really started disliking each other? Michael talks about it in the latest installment of Game of Thrones Re-Throned when he goes back to the fifth episode of season one, “The Wolf and the Lion.”
