David Bowie. Prince. It’s been a brutal start to the year for music lovers everywhere (and humanity), as we have lost two beloved, iconic, transcendent musicians far too soon and with little warning. But luckily, we still have  Paul McCartney. And in a tribute to the recent fallen master of sex-fueled fun, the former Beatle came out in Minneapolis with the Purple One in spirit, paying tribute to Prince with a performance of “Let’s Go Crazy.”
McCartney posted the video of his homage from the Target Center in Minneapolis to his Facebook page, which he simply called “a hometown tribute to Prince.” He is currently on the road for his “One on One” tour, and has a second show there tonight, May 5, so it’s quite possible and maybe even likely he will play another Prince song during the second performance. Accentuating the pentatonic blues scale, the cover sounds exactly like you’d imagine what Paul McCartney doing a Prince cover would sound like.
This isn’t his first tribute either. After Prince’s untimely passing McCartney took to Twitter to remember his fellow music legend.

It’s been a sad year for the music world, but with all of the tributes that have followed both the passing of David Bowie and Prince we know that none of us mourn alone, and no one can take their music from us.
