Paramount TV Developing TRUMAN SHOW Series for Television

There’s new brass in town over at Paramount’s TV division and they’re planning on developing a few big projects right out the gate. One of those projects is a TV series adaptation of the 1998 Jim Carrey-starrer The Truman Show. Ironically enough, we’re in the era that the film satirically foreshadowed, and how and where a Truman Show show will fit amidst Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Duck Dynasty could fill a term paper for a college course.

There’s no word as to whether Jim Carrey will be involved, but looking at his current slate of projects, it would be feasible for him to do, it should he want to. With him leaning back towards comedy (Dumb and Dumber To, for example) as of late, you might want to cross your fingers in the hopes that Carrey will once again play Truman Burbank, star of a series he doesn’t know he’s in.

With that all being said, a scripted TV series based on a movie about an unscripted, or rather soft-scripted, reality show would be a wonderfully meta thing to watch if this project goes to series somewhere.

Doesn’t matter who they get to play Truman, we’re going to compare them to Carrey.
